Calm Hawaiian ocean at dawn

An Executive Brief for Kailua-Kona Leaders

When the moment cracks open, your people deserve more than a hotline.

The Spiritual First Aid 3-Level Certification trains your team and your leaders to meet crisis, grief, burnout, and spiritual distress with the calm authority of Aloha and the steady wisdom of Christ — in the first ten minutes, when it matters most.

Why this. Why now.

Hawaiʻi is carrying invisible wounds — and your team is the first to see them.

Front-desk staff at a Kona resort. A youth pastor at a Sunday service. A nurse on the night shift. A school counselor after a tragedy. The Captain of a charter boat when a guest receives terrible news from home. These are the people who actually meet pain at the moment it arrives — and most of them have never been trained for it.

Spiritual First Aid gives your leaders and frontline teams a shared language, a shared protocol, and a shared spiritual posture rooted in Aloha and anchored in Christ — so the first response is competent, the second is compassionate, and the third is a clear handoff to the right care.

The Certification Pathway

Three Levels. One Movement.

Each level is a complete certification on its own and a stepping-stone to the next. Train a single responder — or build an entire culture of care.

The Responder — Foundations of Spiritual First Aid

Level I

The Responder — Foundations of Spiritual First Aid

8 weeks · live cohort + practicum

The Responder equips every team member to recognize spiritual distress in the moment — grief, panic, moral injury, burnout, crisis of faith — and offer a steady, Christ-centered, trauma-informed first response. Participants learn the Aloha Presence Protocol, the neuroscience of acute stress, prayer that calms a dysregulated nervous system, and clear scope-of-care boundaries that protect both responder and recipient.

  • Identify the 7 signs of acute spiritual distress in self and others
  • Apply the 4-Step Aloha Presence Protocol under pressure
  • De-escalate panic, grief, and moral injury without overstepping
  • Refer with confidence to clinical, pastoral, and medical care
The Practitioner — Trauma-Informed Soul Care

Level II

The Practitioner — Trauma-Informed Soul Care

12 weeks · live cohort + supervised case work

The Practitioner deepens the responder into a skilled soul-care companion. Drawing on Scripture, polyvagal theory, and Hawaiian healing wisdom (hoʻoponopono, lōkahi, kuleana), participants learn to walk alongside people through grief cycles, addiction recovery, post-trauma reintegration, and seasons of spiritual desolation — without burning out themselves.

  • Lead 1:1 and small-group soul-care sessions with confidence
  • Integrate Scripture, breathwork, and somatic awareness ethically
  • Recognize complex trauma and refer responsibly
  • Build a sustainable rhythm that prevents compassion fatigue
The Leader — Crisis Chaplaincy & Team Deployment

Level III

The Leader — Crisis Chaplaincy & Team Deployment

16 weeks · capstone + on-site team rollout

The Leader certification trains senior pastors, HR leads, hospitality directors, school heads, and chaplaincy coordinators to deploy Spiritual First Aid across an entire organization. Graduates are equipped to build a Spiritual First Aid Response Team, run after-action debriefs following critical incidents, partner with EAPs and clinical providers, and steward a culture where Aloha and Christ-centered care become the operating system, not a side program.

  • Stand up and supervise a Spiritual First Aid Response Team
  • Lead Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD) with cultural fluency
  • Design organization-wide care policies and referral pathways
  • Mentor and re-certify Level I and Level II responders annually

A Partnership Invitation

Let's train your team — and the leaders Kailua-Kona is counting on.

We are inviting a small number of churches, resorts, schools, healthcare teams, and ministry networks across Hawaiʻi Island to become founding Spiritual First Aid Partner Organizations. Partners receive on-site cohort training, custom rollout planning, and access to all three certification levels at preferred partnership rates.

If you lead a team in Kailua-Kona — or you carry the kuleana of caring for people who carry others — this is the work. Let's build it together.

On-Site Cohorts

We come to your campus, resort, or ministry and train your team in place.

Preferred Partner Rates

$299/person for groups of 10+ across any of the three certification levels.
